"Song for Guy" is a mainly instrumental piece of music composed by Sir Elton John. It is the closing track of his 1978 album, "A Single Man". This is one of the few songs written by Elton John alone. 🎵❓MORE ABOUT THE SONG/PIECE: ◾ "Song for Guy" is slow-paced & majorly instrumental (piano solo), with the shaker used as a background (I have also used a shaker for this piano video). The piece remains sober, serene & misty. Towards the end, Elton John sings the words "Life–isn't everything", which keeps repeating over the main melody. ◾ The song was also one of Sir Elton's most successful singles in the UK, peaking at #4 in January 1979 & remaining on the chart for 10 weeks. 🎹❓ MEANING OF THE SONG/PIECE: ◾ This song/piece is about life & death. Thus, it makes us want to think about our own life–its purpose & meaning, and how one day, like all mortal beings, we would have to face death. ◾ This piano video is aimed to show the entire journey of our life on Earth. It features time-lapses of a bud opening into a leaf & flowers blossoming, similar to how we begin our journey of life. There are also quotes about life & its purpose. Towards the end of this piano video, I have used quotes about death, with the last video on the timelapse of a dying flower signifying the end of one's life on Earth (death). 🎹❓🎤 ABOUT SIR ELTON JOHN: ◾ Sir Elton Hercules John CH CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight; 1947) is an English singer, songwriter, pianist & composer. Collaborating with lyricist Bernie Taupin since 1967 on more than 30 albums, John has sold over 300 million records, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
