IT'S GOOD TO BE KING, OR IS IT? The LIFE OF HENRY VII entered a new phase after the Battle of Bosworth. The former Earl of Richmond, now the first Tudor king, was the man who won the Wars of the Roses, bringing to an end the long fight between the two branches of the Plantagenet royal family, the Yorks and the Lancasters. There was no doubt he knew how to take a throne and how to survive in medieval times. Now however, he had to learn how to rule England and how to build a royal dynasty from scratch. This History Calling video will take you through the reign of Henry VII. Even with the war over, the monarch and his new wife, Princess Elizabeth of York (daughter of King Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville and sometimes known as the White Princess) faced constant threats to the throne, especially from men who pretended to be either one of Elizabeth’s brothers, the lost Princes in the Tower, or her cousin, the imprisoned Edward, Earl of Warwick. This video will include the stories of Perkin Warbeck and Lambert Simnel and introduce the next generation of the Tudors, Prince Arthur Tudor, Prince of Wales; his younger brother Prince Henry of York (the future Henry VIII) and their sisters, Princess Margaret Tudor (later Queen of Scotland) and Princess Mary Tudor, later Queen of France and Duchess of Suffolk. You’ll also find out what happened to the Red Queen and the White Queen, aka Lady Margaret Beaufort and Queen Elizabeth Woodville, the mothers of the new King and Queen and to Jasper Tudor, Duke of Bedford. The story of the Tudors is just getting started as Henry finds himself a King under threat! This video is the second looking at the story of Henry Tudor (aka Henry 7th or Henry the seventh) and is also part of my Tudor monarchs series which looks at the story of the Tudors from its beginning to its end.
