What Is The Formula For Working Out The Area Of A Triangle Given The Base & Perpendicular Height

In this video you will learn the formula for working out the area of a triangle. To do this you do bh/2. b is the base length of the triangle and h is the perpendicular height of the triangle. So in the the first example the base length is 8 and the perpendicular height is 6. So 8 times 6 divided by 2 gives an answer of 24cm^2. In the second example the triangle has a base length of 9, a perpendicular height of 4 and a sloping height of 5. So to find the area of the triangle you multiply 9 by 4 and divide by 2 to give 18 cm^2. Dont use the 5cm as this is the sloping height and its only there to catch you out.
